Welcome back to the EP Education Grants awards program!  Begun in 2008 as an effort to recognize and support emerging photographers, APA/EP is pleased to announce that our student photography competition is back again for 2013, and entries open February 15!

Prizes & Judges

This year, awards will be granted to each of six outstanding full time students.  In addition to a grant of $1000 each courtesy of APA/EP and Blinkbid, the six winners will also receive the following items courtesy of several industry sponsors:

  • ThinkTankPhoto’s Airport 4-Sight rolling camera bag, valued at $250
  • Blinkbid Business Software, valued at $229
  • Cradoc Software’s fotoQuote 6.0, valued at $150.
  • A free Standard Account for one year from PhotoShelter, valued at $329
  • A one-year APA student membership with winning entries shown on the APA/EP website, valued at $55.

There are no runner-up prizes, only six equal prize packages.

Preliminary judging will be done by a panel of EP Board Members, including Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Smith, followed by several Guest Judges who will choose the prize winners from among the finalists.

Special guest judges for 2013 include:

  • David Griffin, Visuals Editor for the Washington Post and former director of photography at National Geographic
  • Molly Roberts, Chief Photography Editor at Smithsonian magazine and formerly of The Washington Post magazine and National Geographic books
  • and others to be announced shortly

Eligible contestants must be enrolled in an accredited, full time college photography program in the U.S. or Canada during the 2012-2013 school year. Previous winners are not eligible to enter again.
